Vietnam currently has about 100,000 hectares of pepper for harvesting with an average yield of about 24.7 quintals / ha, equivalent to an output of about 247,000 tons. However, while pepper prices remain very low, production costs tend to increase, at least 10% compared to 2017.

This is also the reason that in the first 8 months of 2019, Vietnam, though exporting pepper reached 224,000 thousand tons, up 27.9% over the same period, but turnover decreased slightly by 2.1% and reached only 571 million USD. , due to 23.4% reduction in export prices.

Regarding pepper exports, in the period of 2012 – 2017, pepper exports achieved important results with an annual increase of 20% in exports, one of the key export items in the group of agricultural, forestry and fishery products. . The export market share of Vietnamese pepper has increased from 47% to 60% of the world market.

Output from Asia & Oceania increased by 4.1% to 48.68 million bags and from Africa increased by 2.9% to 18.21 million bags. Production in Mexico and Central America increased by only 0.4% to 21.72 million bags.

Global coffee exports in the first 10 months of 2018 – 2019 increased by 10.2% to 109.41 million bags. Shipments from Brazil increased 27.6% to 35.08 million bags and from Colombia increased 7.6% to 12.59 million bags while robusta exports increased 6.9% to 38.90 million bags.

Coffee exports from the remaining countries reached 22.83 million bags, down 3.7% compared to the first 10 months of 2017 – 2018.

In the first 10 months of this year, green coffee exports accounted for 91.3% of the total export volume amounting to 99.86 million bags.
