According to the preliminary report of the General Department of Customs, pepper exports in April 2021 reached 32,232 tons, an increase of 819 tons, ie an increase of 2.61% over the previous month and a decrease of 3,713 tons, or a decrease of 10.33% compared to the previous month. with the same period last year.

Currently, Vietnam has completed the harvest of the new pepper season. It is estimated that the output of pepper this season will reach about 180,000 tons, down 25 – 30% compared to the previous year. Although the official number has not been announced, many experts consider the above prediction reasonable.

The Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) also recently said that in the 2020-2021 crop year, the country’s pepper output is expected to decrease sharply, but the trend of sustainable production increases in many places.

This agency forecasts that Vietnam’s pepper exports in the coming time will face difficulties due to the impact of the CovidD pandemic. The export price of Vietnamese pepper after a sharp increase in the first quarter of 2021 fell in April 2021 and the first two weeks of May continued to decrease slightly in some localities.
