Domestic pepper market has been quiet recently. According to purchasing agents, the amount of inventory in the garden is quite plentiful, but the amount of goods brought to the market is very small, insignificant because people are expecting prices to return to the high level as in mid-April.
Closing the afternoon session on May 10, the world pepper price on Kochi-India increased by Rs 466, Rp 549 and Rp 481 to Rs 30,180 / kg, Rs 30,477 / quintal and Rs 30,831 / quintal respectively 6,799 USD / ton, USD 6,865 / ton and USD 6,945 / ton for May, June and July terms.
Thus, only from the beginning of May, the price of pepper on the world futures market has increased to an average of 250 USD / ton, a strong increase.
However, what is surprising is that our country's export price of black pepper is now offered at US $ 5,750 / ton for the 500 Gr / l FAQ, US $ 6,100 / ton for the 550Gr / l FAQ, and 500 grade. Gra l clean Asta price 6,100 USD / ton, grade 550 Gr / l Asta clean price 6,450 USD / ton, white pepper type D / W 630 Gr / l cost 8,300 USD / ton, FOB, reduced from 150 to 250 USD / tons depending on each type compared to the price offered last week.
Meanwhile, Indian MG1-ASTA pepper price is still offered at a high price of USD 6,950-7,000 / ton (C&F).
The above figures show that Indian pepper export price is still highly competitive and there is a certain gap between the price of pepper on the trading floor in India and the actual export price of Vietnam.
At the same time, warn that the world's pepper exports will face an upcoming price drop before rebounding.
According to statistics of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam's pepper export in April was estimated at 16,000 tons, worth US $ 80 million, bringing the export volume of pepper in the first 4 months of 2011 is estimated at 42,000 tons, export turnover worth 208 million USD, down 4.9% in volume but up 53.5% in value over the same period.
Metric of Reuters said Vietnam's pepper exports in 2010 accounted for 47% of the world export market.
Supply of world pepper this year is about 33,000-35,000 tons.
It is hoped that our country's exporters will take positive measures to raise Vietnam's pepper prices in the world market and maintain Vietnam's No. 1 position in exporting this spice agricultural product.
