Indonesia is currently the fourth most populous country in the world with a population of more than 250 million people. Indonesia has become a key and potential market in Asia in particular and the world in general. Indonesia is the country with the largest Muslim population in the world. Indonesia’s Halal products consumption market reached 220 billion USD in 2018 and is expected to increase to 330.5 billion USD by 2025.
On February 2, 2021, the Indonesian Government issued Government Regulation No. 39 of 2021 on Product Halal Guarantee (“GR 39”), which clearly states: imported and circulated products and traded within the territory of Indonesia must be certified halal, except for products derived from prohibited materials and these products must carry a declaration that they are not halal. This regulation takes effect from October 18, 2024.
Realizing that Indonesia’s Halal food import requirements are relatively new information for Vietnamese food processing enterprises, the Halal Certification Office – HCA Vietnam organized a seminar: “UPDATE NEW REGULATIONS ABOUT THE INDONESIA MARKET – GUIDE FOR BUSINESSES IN REGISTERING FOR HALAL CERTIFICATION ACCORDING TO REGULATIONS” with the desire to support and provide information for businesses.
