VnSAT Can Tho helps farmers increase rice farming efficiency

Dai Loi Agricultural Cooperative has more than 300 cooperative members using its services, with a rice cultivation area of ​​more than 500 ha. According to Mr. Tuan, the introduction of large-scale electric pumping stations for irrigation in the field also helps farmers reduce costs by about 40% compared to performing small-scale pumping slap with pumps. run on gasoline.

At the same time, bravely bringing in many new types of machines and equipment for production, especially implementing rice cultivation and fertilizing with machines such as: transplanters, seeding machines, grain sprayers … Thereby drastically reducing the amount of using seed in sowing and saving about 30% of the cost of fertilizer and pesticide compared to before.

According to Mr. Ha Van Pho, Head of Rice Production Cooperative Group, Thanh Hoa Ward, Thot Not District, the cooperative group currently has 60 members, with a farming area of ​​more than 72 hectares. In the past, many farmers often had the habit of sowing seeds and using improperly used fertilizers and pesticides, leading to high production costs.

However, through many programs of seminars, seminars and technical training held by the city agriculture sector and the VnSAT Can Tho Project, people have renewed their production thinking.

In particular, through the “1 must, 5 reduction” demonstration models associated with the promotion of mechanization, farmers can confidently reduce the use of seeds from more than 200 kg / ha, to only 40- 130 kg / ha, depending on seeding or sowing.

Farmers pay attention to using quality seed sources to ensure healthy rice, increase resistance to pests and adverse weather conditions, drastically reduce the use of fertilizers and chemical drugs, and apply balanced fertilizer application. , spraying on the principle of “4 right” and economical irrigation for rice.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Huan in Thanh Loi commune, Vinh Thanh district, said that saving money is one of the top priority criteria. The use of transplanters in the sowing stage not only saves the amount of seed rice, frees labor, but also ensures the short-term sowing, suitable for large-scale production today.
