According to preliminary data reported by the General Department of Vietnam Customs, pepper exports in April 2020 reached 36,176 tons of all kinds of pepper, down 4,121 tons, or 10.23% down from the previous month and down 1,202 tons. , that is down 3.22% over the same period last year.

The value of pepper export turnover in the month reached 72.59 million USD, down by 10.46 million USD, or by 12.60% over the previous month and 20.79 million USD down, or 22.27% compared to the previous month. in the same period last year.

Cumulative export volume of pepper in the first four months of 2020 totaled 116,764 tons of pepper of all kinds, up 8,946 tons, or 8.26% higher than the export volume of the first four months of 2019.

However, in terms of export turnover value in the first 4 months of 2020, a total of 248.75 million USD is reached, a decrease of 34.09 million USD, or a decrease of 12.05% over the same period.

Average export price in April 2020 reached USD 2,007 / ton, down 2.62% compared with that of March 2020.

According to IPC statistics, world pepper prices in April 2020 in general in some producing countries increased due to the demand for the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. In which, Indonesia ranked first with ASTA black pepper up 9.68% and FAQ white pepper up 6.75%; Vietnam ranked next with black pepper at 550 Gr / l, up 7.46%, black pepper at 500 Gr / l, up 7.58%, and white pepper up by 5.15%. In contrast, Indian black pepper prices fell 1.52% as pepper growing states started selling the new crop this year.
