On November 22-23, 2019, Vietnam Logistics Forum 2019 took place in Da Nang with the main theme: Logistics supporting the improvement of agricultural value. Speaking at the opening of the Forum, Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh emphasized that 2020 is an important year when Vietnam takes on the rotating ASEAN chair position. Deploying Resolution No. 02 / NQ-CP dated January 1, 2019 of the Government on continuing to perform key tasks and solutions to improve the business environment, enhance national competitiveness in 2019 and Oriented to 2021, March 26, 2019, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has issued Decision No. 708 / QD-BCT approving Vietnam's Logistics Performance Improvement Plan. The plan sets out specific tasks associated with the roles of ministries, sectors and localities and is divided into task groups closely related to the component indicators in LPI. The Ministry of Industry and Trade, acting as a focal point to monitor the Logistics Performance Index, is currently actively urging and coordinating with ministries, branches and localities to implement the tasks assigned in the above-mentioned Plan in order to improve High competitiveness, improve the efficiency of national logistics.

Accordingly, in addition to the duties and powers stipulated in Article 2 of Decision No. 1899 / QD-TTg, the Steering Committee also has the task of assisting the Government and the Prime Minister in directing, directing and coordinating activities. of other ministries, agencies and organizations involved in finalizing the policy; deploy development solutions, improve quality, improve the efficiency and responsiveness of logistics services according to the requirements of economic development and enhance the competitiveness of trade and the economy. The new task of the Committee is considered to be a significant milestone for Vietnam's logistics service industry as well as trade facilitation, showing the interest of the Government and the Prime Minister in developing the industry. logistics services to develop the country's logistics services to keep pace with the advanced level of international freight forwarding and logistics.

According to the World Bank Report on Logistics Performance Index (LPI), published on July 24, 2018, Vietnam ranked 39/160 countries participating in the study, up 25 places compared to 2016 and rose to rank 3 in ASEAN countries. Vietnam is also a country that ranks at the top in emerging markets. This is the best result that Vietnam has had since Word Bank performed the ranking of Logistics Activity Index in the last decade.

In recent years, the logistics industry has a high growth rate of 13-15%. The current number of transport and logistics enterprises is about 3,000, including roads, railways, seaways, inland waterways, airways, etc. The development of transport and logistics industries will simultaneously create conditions for Vietnam to quickly become a new production center in the region, with high labor productivity and good competitiveness.
