For the whole year, the volume and value of rice exports reached 6.15 million tons and 3.07 billion USD, down 3.5% in volume but up 9.3% in value compared to 2019 thanks to export prices. import increased.
The reason is that demand for Vietnamese rice increases in the context of the decline in Thai supply and the disruption of Indian rice exports due to a shortage of human resources. Therefore, when the export activities of the two countries are stable again, it will partly make Vietnamese rice prices fall.
According to the Department of Agro-Processing and Market Development (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), it is expected that in January 2021, rice prices will remain at a high level due to steady buying demand and especially demand from market rice warehouses for Tet.
