Vietnam's market share in total Dutch pepper imports increased significantly in the first three quarters of 2019, according to the Department of Agricultural Product Processing and Market Development.

Vietnam is currently the largest pepper supplier of the Netherlands, accounting for 50.1% of the total Dutch pepper import, up nearly 10% over the same period in 2018.

The Netherlands imports for both consumption and re-export to other countries. As of October 2019, Vietnam has exported to the Netherlands about 6,954 tons, up 20.2% over the same period in 2018.

The Dutch market share in Vietnam's total pepper export turnover has also increased from 3.6% (October 10, 2018) to 3.7% (May 10, 2019).

The price of robusta coffee delivered in January 2020 increased 1.8% to 1,406 USD / ton. The price of arabica coffee delivered in March 2020 decreased by 0.7% to 123 UScent / pound.

According to a report from the World Coffee Organization (ICO), global coffee exports in October reached 8.91 million bags, the lowest level since September 2017. This figure represents a decrease of 13.4% compared to the same period in 2018 and 2.4% compared to the same period in 2017.

In contrast, exports from Colombia increased by 13.5% to 1.31 million bags over the same period last year. The depreciation of the Colombian currency against the US dollar for much of 2019 could be a contributing factor to the increase in shipments from Colombia.

Coffee exports from South America amounted to 5.29 million bags in October, led by 3.42 million bags from Brazil. Export from Brazil, accounting for 38.4% of the region's total coffee exports, down 12.9% from October 2018 due to the narrowing of the 2019-2020 crop.

Although shipments in October decreased compared to the same period in 2018, Brazil's total exports so far have reached a record 23.62 million bags. This figure is 7.2% higher than the second highest level of 22.04 million bags, reached in April 2014.

With 1.21 million bags, Colombia's exports in October increased by 13.9%. Export of green coffee increased by 15.5% when the main harvest began, while the volume of roasted coffee exports grew little but steadily 41.4% to 16,934 bags.
