According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, one of the causes threatening the sustainable development of pepper is the disease factor and the breeding activities are still limited.
In particular, pepper died quickly, yellow wilt, curly leaves, anthracnose or viral diseases, root nematodes are widespread and causing serious damage to production.
Research on, selection of new varieties, production of disease-free pepper, selection and recognition of best clones and cashew orchards have not been paid attention to by the provinces.
Currently, the US market and EU countries strictly control the chemical residues on pepper so the export of this agricultural product faces many challenges.
Basically, Vietnam's pepper industry is running after productivity, ignoring quality and food safety, thus failing to meet importers' requirements. Processing technology is mainly raw, few processing facilities have modern technology, so the value is not high.
