The Import and Export Department said that Vietnam's pepper production industry is facing many difficulties due to the oversupply and low prices. The area of pepper cultivation has exceeded the planning, especially in inappropriate areas, the disease on pepper has not yet had effective control measures.

While the organization of production, preliminary processing and deep processing of pepper is still limited, it has not brought into full play its potential and advantages.

In the early days of October 2019, importers stepped up imports of Brazil pepper, causing the domestic price of pepper to decrease to its lowest level in recent years.

Domestic black pepper price was the lowest at 39,000 VND / kg in Chu Se and Dong Nai provinces, the highest was 41,500 VND / kg in Ba Ria – Vung Tau province. The price of white pepper at 63,000 VND / kg, down 3.1% compared to the end of September 2019 and down from 87,000 VND / kg of the same period in 2018.
