The price of robusta coffee delivered in March 2020 increased by 0.7% to 1,329 USD / ton. Arabica coffee prices fell 3.7% to 106 USCent / pound.
Production in Indonesia next season is forecast to increase modestly 100,000 bags to 10.7 million bags, with a steady increase between production of arabica and robusta coffee.
Robusta output is expected to reach 9.5 million bags under favorable development conditions in the lowlands of South Sumatra and Java, where 75% are grown.
Although heavy rainfall in West Java delayed the arabica coffee harvest, production was expected to increase slightly.
Although recent reports suggest that total production may increase significantly over the next 5 years, these claims are unreliable due to the increase in acreage or rehabilitation program to replace aging trees with higher yield varieties and fertilizer use remain largely unchanged.
