In Cambodia, Kampot pepper has been granted a Geographical Indications (GI) certificate from the European Union (EU) since 2016, increasing pepper yield and quality assurance.

In 2019, about 120 tons of Kampot pepper that has been granted Geographical Indications (GI) from the EU has been harvested, but the traditional way of selling it through the Kampot Pepper Promotion Association is less than half.

According to the Kampot Pepper Promotion Association, at the end of December 2019, the Kampot Pepper Promotion Association sold about 50 tons of pepper, lower than 68 tons in 2018. Of which, 30% was consumed in domestic market, mainly for travel shops and 70% for export.

Cambodia's export markets for pepper include the EU, US, Japan, China and South Korea. The remaining pepper stored by farmers can be sold in the domestic market, but at a lower price, depending on demand.

Total production for Central America and Mexico from 2019 to 2020 is expected to decline slightly by 400,000 bags to 19.1 million as some countries have to fight coffee leaf rust, the first recorded decline since 2013. – 2014.

Profits earned in Mexico thanks to favorable weather are expected to offset losses in Honduras, where farmers restrict implementation of preventive measures against leaf rust due to low prices and the ability to restrict lending.

Production of El Salvador and Panama is at 650,000 and 75,000, respectively, as these countries continue to struggle with rust.

Guatemala production is expected to decrease 200,000 bags to 3.6 million bags with reduced production. Coffee exports across the region from 2019 to 2020 are expected to decrease by 800,000 bags to 15.5 million bags, mainly due to lower export supply in Honduras.

Nearly half of the region's exports are destined for the European Union (EU) market, followed by about a third to the US.

In the 2019-2020 crop, production in Colombia is expected to recover 400,000 bags from last year due to the drought, reaching 14.3 million bags under normal weather conditions.

The National Federation of Colombian Coffee Growers (FedECAFE) estimates that since 2012, about half of the 940,000 hectares of coffee beans have been improved, mainly against leaf rust.
