Prices of black and white pepper for export in some producing countries were supported by seasonal factors, increasing demand in the winter. Forecast in 2020, global pepper prices will hardly recover due to oversupply.
Current world demand is about 510,000 tons / year and the average annual increase is only 2 – 3%, while global pepper production increased by 8 – 10%. Global pepper production in 2018 reached 557,000 tons and is expected to reach 602,000 tons in 2019.
It is forecast that by 2050, world pepper production will increase to 1 million tons and world demand for pepper will also increase, but not in balance with the supply. Therefore, pepper prices may remain uncertain for a while.

The price of robusta coffee delivered in March 2020 decreased by 1% to 1,313 USD / ton. The price of arabica coffee delivered in March 2020 decreased 1.4% to 112 UScent / pound.
2019 was a turbulent year for the coffee market as we saw prices falling to record levels due to plentiful supply from Brazil and the real local currency. However, entering a new decade of significant recovery in coffee prices and certainly increasing demand will be the basis for the development of the coffee industry.
Beginning in 2019, arabica coffee prices were just above $ 1 per pound after trading at 92 cents per pound in September 2018, the lowest level since 2005, according to Seeking Alpha.
After improving to a higher level of 1.0715 USD / pound in the first quarter, the price continued to decline sharply due to abundant supply from Brazil and the real weakening. Brazil is the world's leading producer and exporter of arabica coffee.
While the futures coffee market on the ICE Intercontinental Exchange uses the US dollar as a pricing mechanism, Brazil's monetary base is the real currency. Therefore, the weakening local currency greatly affects coffee prices.
In April 2019, the price of 92 US cents / pound from 2018 continued to decline and made way for 86.35 US cents / pound.
