Defining poverty reduction as an important political task, Phuc Triu commune has mobilized various resources to support people to increase their income. Mr. Nguyen Hong Khanh, Vice Chairman of the Commune People’s Committee, said: The locality has included poverty reduction targets in the resolution of the Party Congress for each term. On that basis, Phuc Triu has consolidated the Management Board, the Poverty Reduction Steering Committee year by year, coordinated with associations and mass organizations in the commune to fully and promptly implement policies for households. poverty, such as: Subsidies for hunger and poverty near the county; support for electricity, telecommunications services, clean water, health care… From 2016 up to now, the whole commune has about 500 households receiving county-wide relief with an amount of more than 100 million dong; 100% of children belonging to poor or near-poor households going to school are supported with study expenses; 100% of the children of poor households are exempted from tuition fees and contributed money to build school facilities according to regulations…

To help the poor settle down, Phuc Triu commune has coordinated with Fatherland Front Committees at all levels to review the number of dilapidated houses in the hamlets, and build and repair them based on the needs of households. In the last 5 years (2016-2021), the commune has built and repaired 45 houses, with a total cost of nearly 3.6 billion VND.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien, from Rung Chua hamlet – one of the households supported to repair houses, shared: In 2018, my family tried to collect money to build a level 4 house, an area of ​​​​70m2. However, due to limited funds, money to build houses is basically borrowed, so many items have to be made temporary. Until last year, my family received nearly 20 million VND to complete the house.

In addition to well implementing the support policies of the State, Phuc Triu commune also directs associations and mass organizations to support people with plants and seeds to transform plant structure; helping people access loans through the Bank for Social Policies to give people “fishing rods”.

Mr. Le Van Binh, Chairman of Phuc Triu Commune Farmers’ Association, said: As a key unit in supporting poor households in terms of loans, every year, the Association has cooperated with associations, unions and other organizations. The hamlets review the needs of the households. On that basis, the Association accepts to entrust people with loans for economic development through the Bank for Social Policies. Currently, the whole commune has nearly 70 poor and near-poor households that have been granted loans through the Farmers’ Association with outstanding loans of over VND 2.5 billion; More than 30 households who have just escaped poverty can borrow capital with the amount of over 500 million VND. Through the review, the households all used the capital for the right purposes, effectively, without generating bad debts or overdue debts.

Thanks to the synchronous implementation of many solutions, poverty reduction in Phuc Triu in recent years has achieved many results. If in 2016, the poverty rate in the commune was nearly 6%, then by the end of 2021, it will decrease to only 0.86%; near-poor households decreased from 3.45% to 2.78%.
