On June 22, 2022 in Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak, the Steering Committee of the Sustainable Landscape Program of Dak Lak Province had a working session with the Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam with Mr. Project Manager – Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam on the Project “Promoting sustainable production and trade for Vietnamese pepper”. The project is implemented in the period from 2021 to 2023, co-implemented by IDH, European Spices Association and Vietnam Pepper Association in 3 Central Highlands provinces (Dak Lak, Dak Nong and Gia Lai) for about 10,000 people. The project is implemented with the goal of improving capacity in the pepper supply chain to meet the requirements of the European market; strengthen control and supervision of agrochemicals in the supply chain of Pepper; increasing market access for small and medium-sized sustainable pepper producers and promoting the application of sustainable farming practices, increasing the supply of pepper to meet market requirements.
In the period of 2021 – 2023, the project will be deployed to more than 10 thousand farmers; 15% increase in pepper output to meet the prescribed residue level; 100% of plant protection drug dealers commit to implement; 15% increase in income for farmers; 15% reduction of irrigation water to help safety for health and protect the environment.
Some areas are expected to be implemented by the project: Dak Song – Dak Nong district, Dak Doa – Gia Lai district, Cu Mgar district, Krong Nang district, Cu Kuin district and Buon Ho town in Dak Lak.
