According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, pepper exports in the first 10 months of 2024 will reach 220.3 thousand tons, with a value of 1.12 billion USD. Pepper exports decrease by 2.3% in volume but increase by 48.2% in value over the same period in 2023.
In 2014, for the first time, Vietnam’s pepper export turnover set a record of 1.2 billion USD, but from then until 2023, it lost the 1 billion USD mark. However, with the result that in the first 10 months of 2024, pepper export turnover increased by nearly 50%, after 10 years, pepper exports have regained the 1 billion USD mark. It is forecast that for the whole year of 2024, pepper exports will set a new record – 1.3 billion USD, according to information published in Vietnam Economic Journal.

Doctor Trong said pepper can be used as a medicine to treat diseases and improve health as follows:
– Cure digestive disorders, stomach pain due to cold, bloating: 2g crushed fragrant star pepper, 6g fragrant star pepper. You add 100ml of water, decoct to get 50ml of medicinal water and divide it to drink 2 times a day. Take 1 dose per day.
– Treat inflammation and vaginal itching: 9g pepper. Crush the pepper and add it to 1 liter of boiled water, let it cool, then wash your private area. Wash twice a day, wash until the itching and inflammation go away, then stop.
– Cure tinea versicolor: 3-5 pepper leaves, 5-10 betel leaves. Wash and pound two types, mix with vinegar or white wine, wrap in a clean cloth, rub on the affected area, use 2-3 times a day.
At high doses, pepper can be toxic to the body and cause convulsions, Dr. Trong noted.
