It is expected that in 2018, the national pepper production will reach 230,000 tons, up from the estimated 210,000 tons in 2017 (it reached 175,000 in 2016).

According to the Vietnam Pepper Association (VPA): On a global scale, in the past 5-7 years, the pepper area has increased 3 times (reaching 480,000 ha) but the value has decreased 4 times. The price of dry pepper decreased from 250,000 VND/kg to 58,000 VND/kg.

In the domestic market, in the trading session on December 15th: The average pepper price in the major pepper growing provinces in Vietnam (Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Gia Lai, Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, Ba Ria Vung Tau) reached 52,800 VND/kg. The lowest pepper prices were recorded in Gia Lai and Dong Nai provinces with 52,000 VND/kg; The highest pepper price in Ba Ria Vung Tau province reached 54,000 VND/kg. In Dak Lak, Dak Nong and Binh Phuoc provinces, pepper prices reached 53,000 VND/kg.

In terms of exports, a report by the Department of Agricultural Product Processing and Market Development (MARD) shows that: The export volume of pepper in the first 11 months of 2018 is estimated at 220,000 tons and 718 million USD, up 8.9% in terms of exports. volume but decreased by 32.5% in value over the same period in 2017.

In markets, due to the continuous decrease in export prices of pepper, the export value of pepper to most markets in the first 10 months of 2018 decreased compared to the same period in 2017. In particular, the price decreased the most in the market. United Arab Emirates (up to 34 million USD, equivalent to a decrease of 57.7%).

The Department of Agricultural Product Processing and Market Development recommends: Exporting businesses need to actively exploit the advantage that the country has a large supply and needs a good business problem to be able to raise the price of pepper. export up.

In 2019, the International Pepper Association (IPC) forecasts: Total world pepper production is estimated at 4.9 million tons, down from more than 5.2 million tons in 2018. At the same time, according to IPC The demand for pepper worldwide needs about 300,000 tons/year.
