According to information from the Central News Agency of Taiwan (CNA), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said that a shipment of 25 tons of black pepper from Vietnam was not allowed to enter Taiwan due to detection excessive pesticide residues.
This shipment was imported by Tomax Enterprise, a famous spice trader in Taiwan, in May.
In the latest FDA safety inspection, pepper was one of 12 items denied clearance to enter the Taiwan market because of pesticide residues, heavy metals or excessive bleaching agents.
According to the FDA, in addition to the batch of black pepper from Vietnam, other rejected items include Chinese white radish, Korean cabbage, Thai asparagus, Vietnamese brown rice, Brazilian frozen lobster, and Japanese squid. Copy…
