1. Regarding production:

The pepper gardens which have been exploited for about 10 years (about 30-40% of the total area), have been degraded, productivity reduced, susceptible to disease, some old people are dying. The replanting of pepper on this land takes several years to rotate.

Combining the Eastern provinces survey: An overview of the pepper crop production results in 2012 nationwide for the estimated yield of 95,000 – 100,000 tons, down 10-15% compared to 2011. At the end of the harvest, more accurate provinces will be reported.

2. Situation of circulation, sale, market, price:

– 2012 pepper is being harvested, estimated at 15-20%, 10 – 15 days earlier than the 2011 crop. The density of local pepper is quite high from 500gr – 600 gr / liter.

– Most of ethnic minority households, households with economic difficulties, harvest pepper to sell as much as possible. The rich, rich households only sell enough to cover production costs, especially, they also buy more stockpiles, waiting for the price to rise (this number is estimated at 50% of production) to consume in the last 6 months.

– Prices at the beginning of the crop were high, black pepper at the beginning of the price was 120,000 – 125,000 VND / kg, up 25-30% over the same period in 2011, creating a sense of hoarding for prices like in 2011.
