Market of vegetables, fruits in the country

Citing Economy and Consumption, Lam Dong, the largest supplier of vegetables in the country, there are many types of vegetables that cost quite a lot, while some fall by 5-6 times. Specifically, onions, tomatoes, lettuce and cauliflower cost from VND 17,000 – 35,000 / kg while cabbage only VND 1,000 / corn, bell peppers sold only VND 8,000 / kg.

The reason for such a low price is that these vegetables can be produced in many other areas of the country. Moreover, due to the impact of COVID-19 disease, the export of these vegetables to China and Cambodia has many difficulties, leading traders to stop collecting goods simultaneously.

For some fruit products such as dragon fruit, jackfruit, durian, etc. at the beginning of the month due to difficulties in the clearance of customs clearance through the Vietnam – China border gate, the price has dropped deeply to 5-6 times. .

However, the Government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development have implemented many solutions to overcome difficulties, such as calling on domestic enterprises to buy and exchange with you – China, reopening the door. With strict control, the price of these fruits has increased. The price of dragon fruit in Binh Thuan has increased from 14,000 to 16,000 VND / kg in the garden.

Market of vegetables and fruits in the world

Italian market

Italy is a large, traditional consumer market with local vegetable and fruit production. The country consumes almost all products imported in the region, so re-exports are limited. Italian manufacturers export part of their product, including apples, grapes, watermelons, kiwi and herbs.

Pineapple and bananas are directly sourced, being the most popular imported product for consumers in the country. Other imported goods are mainly sourced through other European countries, such as the Netherlands or Spain.

However, avocado, kiwi and pomegranate show a strong growth in direct sourcing, creating opportunities for exporters in producing countries.

French market

Within Europe, France is one of the important markets for fruits and vegetables, although it often uses the Netherlands or Belgium for logistics activities.

In 2018, France imported 3.5 million tons of fruits and 2.4 million tons of vegetables. For most fruits, France is both a net importer and a final market.

Statistics show that France is Europe's main importer of vegetables from developing countries. However, this is mainly due to Moroccan imports of tomatoes, beans and bell peppers.

France maintains good trade relations with suppliers in North West Africa. The country imported 2 million tons of fruits and vegetables from developing countries in 2018, of which 600,000 tons came from Morocco and 25,000 tons of bananas mainly from Ivory Coast.

Bnews / TTXVN once reported that the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Hanoi Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion have coordinated with the Rungis wholesale market in Paris to organize Weekly Vietnam's agricultural products at the end of June 2018.

At these events, Vietnamese agricultural products will be introduced on a large scale to French importers. Fruits such as lychee, mango, dragon fruit, coconut, grapefruit … and tropical spices such as lemongrass, cinnamon, lake, cardamom … are all present.

Mr. Layani, President and General Director of Rungis Market, highly appreciated the quality of Vietnamese agricultural products and firmly believed that Vietnam's agricultural products will have promising markets not only in France but also in Europe. as worldwide.

According to Mr. Layani, Vietnam can be considered as an agricultural power, but to find outlets for products, Vietnam is lacking a big wholesale market.

Currently, food safety and hygiene is one of the issues of concern in Vietnam. What needs to be done is to build a wholesale market that meets European standards, quality assurance and branding.

With a tropical climate, Vietnam has many high quality agricultural products suitable for the culinary culture of the French and Europeans.

Vietnam's vegetables, roots, fruits and seafood products are currently available in 180 countries and territories. With an export turnover of more than US $ 36 billion in 2017, Vietnam is among the top 15 largest agricultural, forestry and fishery exporters in the world.

Spanish market

As one of the leading fruit and vegetable producers in Europe thanks to its favorable climate, Spain pays great attention to export activities. The country is responsible for Europe's main vegetable and fruit trade flows.

Thanks to favorable climates, the production rates of these two countries are higher than those of other countries, especially citrus fruits, watermelons, peaches, chili and tomatoes, grapes and pears.

Fruits and vegetables from North Africa and tropical fruits from Latin America are present quite a lot in Spain. The supply of Morocco and Peru in particular has grown steadily.

Morocco exports watermelons, tomatoes and soft fruits to Spain; while Peru supplies avocado, mango and sweet onions to Spain.

Spain, which is mainly imported from Egypt, also exploded from 648 to 21,439 tons over a five-year period.

According to Vinanet data calculated from the Vietnam General Department of Customs, Vietnam's vegetable and fruit exports to Spain, although increasing quite rapidly over the past time, are still at low levels.

In 2015, the total value of Vietnam's exports of fruits and vegetables to Spain reached about 1.16 million EUR, more than doubled compared to 2014. Of which fruit exports reached about 900,000 EUR, and vegetables exports types reached about 260,000 EUR, mainly herbs, sweet corn …

Indigenous products are so popular that Spanish consumers are less likely to consume exotic tropical fruits and vegetables, while the Asian community here is much less than other European countries. Therefore, the purchasing power is not large.

However, this market still has potential for some fruits such as dragon fruit, mango, pineapple, grapefruit … because consumers are getting used to and consuming more and more.
