In the trading session of Robusta coffee on the London (UK) floor on September 12 (local time), the price of Robusta coffee for November delivery increased to an average of 5,077 USD/ton, an increase of 69 USD/ton compared to the previous day; the highest price recorded was 5,115 USD/ton, an increase of 107 USD/ton.

A representative of a coffee cooperative in Gia Lai said that the reason why coffee is about to enter the harvest season, the supply is increasing but the price is increasing is because buyers clearly see a failed crop due to the impact of dry weather from the beginning of the season. Not only Vietnam but Brazil is also in a similar situation, so the trend of increasing coffee prices continues.
Currently, the local price of raw coffee is at 125,000 – 130,000 VND/kg, relatively stable in recent times. Compared to the “peak” price at the end of April, the domestic coffee price is still 5,000 – 10,000 VND/kg lower.
The rising price of raw coffee has caused coffee shops to struggle to maintain their prices or increase them slightly to retain customers. Experts in the food and beverage (F&B) industry say that the cost of raw coffee used to be less than 20% but has now increased to 25-30%, even 50% for popular models.
According to the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (VICOFA), coffee exports in August continued to decline due to exhausted supplies with an output of 73,223 tons, export turnover of about 399.72 million USD; down about 13.4% in volume but turnover increased about 54.8% compared to the same period last year due to increased coffee prices. The average export price of Robusta coffee in August was 4,865 USD/ton.
In the first 8 months of 2024, Vietnam exported about 1.05 million tons of coffee, with an export turnover of nearly 4.04 billion USD, down 12.5% in volume but up 36.4% in turnover over the same period last year.
