According to MARD, in recent years, our country's pepper area has increased rapidly. In 2001, the whole country had over 35 thousand hectares, but by 2010 it had increased to 51 thousand hectares. The area continued to increase sharply and by 2019, it will be about 140 thousand hectares.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam is the world's leading country in producing and exporting pepper, accounting for over 40% of the production and over 60% of the world market share of pepper.
Vietnam is exporting pepper to 105 countries and territories around the world. In particular, the US consumes large quantities of about 27 thousand tons. In 2016, the export turnover of pepper reached a record of US $ 1.4 billion and in the first 6 months of this year, the pepper export turnover was about US $ 463 million.
According to Le Van Duc, Deputy Director of the Department of Crop Production (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), Vietnam's pepper production industry has not been sustainable due to the rapid increase in the area, especially in hot areas in irrelevant areas.
According to the planning in Decision No. 1442 / QD-BNN-TT 2014 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, by 2020 with a vision to 2030, the area of pepper nationwide is about 50,000 hectares. However, up to now, the pepper area has increased to 140,000 ha.

Price of robusta coffee delivered in November decreased 1.6% to 1,298 USD / ton. Price of arabica coffee delivered in December decreased 1.5% to 98.8 UScent / pound.
