Vietnam is exporting pepper to 105 countries and territories around the world. In particular, the US consumes large quantities of about 27 thousand tons. In 2016, the export turnover of pepper reached a record of US $ 1.4 billion and in the first 6 months of this year, the pepper export turnover was about US $ 463 million.

According to Le Van Duc, Deputy Director of the Department of Crop Production (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), Vietnam's pepper production industry has not been sustainable due to the rapid increase in the area, especially in hot areas in irrelevant areas.

According to the planning in Decision No. 1442 / QD-BNN-TT 2014 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, by 2020 with a vision to 2030, the area of ​​pepper nationwide is about 50,000 hectares. However, up to now, the pepper area has increased to 140,000 ha.
