In Gia Lai province alone, output in crop year 2020-2021 is expected to decrease by 60-70%.
Mr. Binh said that agents and traders are increasing buying while the supply this year has decreased, leading to a sharp increase in prices.
Mr. Nguyen Nam Hai, Chairman of Vietnam Pepper Association (VPA) said that nationwide, Vietnam’s pepper production in 2021 could decrease from 25-30% compared to 2020 to about 168,000-180,000 tons due to many old pepper garden and people reduce investment in care.
According to VPA data, pepper production in Binh Phuoc province can decrease by over 50%; Dak Nong decreased by 20% compared to the peak period in 2017. Dak Lak province alone cannot be reliably evaluated because the survey is only representative in the two districts of Cu Kuin and Buon Ho and productivity shows the difference between region.

Mr. Tuong said that the price mark of 70,000 in the crop year 2020-2021 is not difficult to achieve in the near future because at the beginning of the year, an important milestone of 60,000 VND / kg.
