Pepper prices today (July 25) range from 71,000 to 75,000 VND/kg. In the past week, the pepper market fluctuated sporadically, some localities adjusted down 500-1,000 VND/kg.

Compared to the beginning of the week, the two provinces of Binh Phuoc and Ba Ria – Vung Tau together decreased by 500 VND/kg, recording 74,000 VND/kg and 75,000 VND/kg respectively.

Similarly, after reducing 1,000 VND/kg, Gia Lai and Dong Nai provinces are currently trading at VND 71,000/kg and VND 72,000/kg respectively.

The purchasing price in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces fluctuated slightly in the middle of the week, but the price is still equivalent to the level at the beginning of the week at VND 73,500/kg.

According to statistics from the American Center for International Trade, US pepper imports in the first five months of 2021 reached 35.63 thousand tons, worth $117.83 million, down 16.4% in volume, but increased 42.9% in value over the same period in 2020.

The average import price of US pepper in the first 5 months of 2021 reached US$3,307/ton, up 42.9% over the same period in 2020. In which, US pepper import price increased from most markets provided by the school.

The structure of the pepper supply market to the US in the first 5 months of 2021 has changed. The US reduced pepper imports from Vietnam and Brazil markets, but increased from Indonesia, India and China.

Statistics show that, in the first 5 months of 2021, the US imports of pepper from Vietnam reached approximately 23 thousand tons, worth 72.84 million USD, down 18.1% in volume, but up 14.3 % in value over the same period in 2020.

Vietnam’s pepper market share in total US imports decreased from 65.84% in the first 5 months of 2020 to 64.48% in the first 5 months of 2021, according to a report from Import and Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade).
