Pepper price today 5/8/2021: Many localities adjusted to increase by 500 VND/kg

Pepper price today (August 5) turned to increase by 500 VND/kg in many surveyed localities. Currently, the highest price recorded is 75,500 VND/kg.

Specifically, the two provinces of Dak Lak and Dak Nong both increased by 500 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently trading at 73,500 VND/kg.

After increasing by 500 VND/kg, the two provinces of Binh Phuoc and Ba Ria – Vung Tau respectively purchased pepper at 74,500 VND/kg and 75,500 VND/kg respectively.

Particularly, Gia Lai and Dong Nai provinces did not record any new changes in price today, stable at VND 72,000/kg and VND 72,500/kg, respectively.

Although there have been inconsistent up and down adjustments for more than a month, compared to the beginning of this year, Vietnam’s black pepper price has now increased by 33.1 – 32.8% (945 – 964 USD/ton).

Similarly, the price of Indonesian black pepper increased by 25.7%, Indian black pepper increased by 17.5%, Malaysian black pepper increased by 35.6%, especially Brazilian black pepper increased by 42.9%.

Meanwhile, the price of white pepper in the international market has also increased sharply from 30% to 39% since the beginning of the year.

As of July 12, 2021, Indonesia’s muntok white pepper price reached $6,617/ton, Malaysia’s white pepper fluctuated at $6,800/ton, Vietnam’s white pepper reached $5,800/ton.

The decline in pepper production of Vietnam, the world’s largest pepper exporter, was the reason for the increase in global pepper prices in the first months of this year.
