According to the latest report of Department of Import and Export (Ministry of Industry and Trade)in the first 9 months of 2023, the Netherlands imported pepper from Vietnam reaching approximately 5.44 thousand tons, worth nearly 22.96 million EUR (equivalent to 24.95 million USD), a decrease of 35.3% in quantity and decreased 46.1% in value compared to the same period last year.

However, Vietnam’s pepper market share in the Netherlands’ total imports from the non-EU market in the first 9 months of 2023 is relatively stable, at 64.56%.

Similarly, the Netherlands reduced pepper imports from Brazil in the first 9 months of 2023, down 36.9% in volume and 43.5% in value compared to the same period last year, reaching 1.58 thousand tons, worth price 5.44 million EUR (equivalent to 5.92 million USD).

Brazil’s pepper market share in the Netherlands’ total imports from the non-EU market decreased from 19.25% in the first 9 months of 2022 to 18.76% in the first 9 months of 2023.

In contrast, the Netherlands increased pepper imports from China in the first 9 months of 2023, up 162.2% in volume and 45.1% in value over the same period last year, reaching 253 tons, worth 752 tons. thousand EUR (equivalent to 818 thousand USD).

China’s pepper market share in the Netherlands’ total imports from the non-EU market increased from 0.74% in the first 9 months of 2022 to 3% in the first 9 months of 2023.
