Update pepper information
Although pepper prices show signs of decreasing slightly, they are still at a very high level compared to previous years, double the price of 67,000 VND/kg at the same time last year.
VPSA said that a recent survey to assess the current status of the three Central Highlands provinces showed that farmers’ maintenance and production of pepper is increasingly being competed with by durian and coffee .
Notably, right after the 2024 harvest, a drought lasting nearly 100 days caused many old pepper gardens to continue to degrade further. Heavy rain also occurred in mid-July in Dak Lak and Binh Phuoc, making pepper gardens susceptible to fruit loss, malnutrition, yellow leaves, waterlogging, and pest and disease infections…
Ms. Hoang Thi Lien – President of the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association said that in the next 3-5 years, global pepper production will still not be enough to meet consumer demand, according to Vneconomy.
