In the Kochi pepper futures market on Wednesday, the price remained stable, the closing level of more than 2 months fell with very few transactions. Spot market still celebrates Onam. Domestic demand is still overwhelming the market but most people still don’t mind because it is still in the holiday period. In parallel, the European and US markets are still very high.
Indian pepper is currently offering $3,200/ton (c&f), which is quite competitive. September NCDEX contracts fell by Rs57, closing at Rs14,792/quintal. October decreased by Rs23, while November increased by Rs24/quintal, closing at Rs15,079/quintal and Rs15,322.
Total trading volume was 459 tons, closing at 6,199 tons. The amount of unrealized contracts decreased by 186 tons to 10,446 tons. September contract volume decreased by 341 tons, but October increased by 157 tons and November by 3 tons. Brazilian Asta pepper is currently being offered at $2,875/ton (fob) Belem; B1 is $2,800 and B2 is $2,675/ton, all fob Belem.
