Specifically, the export volume of pepper in September is estimated at 11,000 tons, with a value of 72 million USD. Thus, the total export volume of pepper in the first 9 months of the year reached 112,000 tons, worth US $ 743 million.

The average export price of pepper in the first 8 months of 2013 reached nearly 6,600 USD / ton, down nearly 250 USD / ton (about 3.62%) compared to the same period last year.

With a market share of about 32%, the US and Germany markets are still the largest markets for Vietnam's pepper exports. These two markets also experienced strong growth. Specifically, the US market increased more than 86% in volume and nearly 81% in value, the German market increased 8.5% in volume and nearly 5% in value over the same period in 2012.

According to the Vietnam Pepper Association, the price increase of pepper on this occasion was due to the fact that all major importing countries of Vietnam have stepped up buying, and the price of pepper in the world market is increasing.

Specifically, from the beginning of September 2013 up to now, in Dak Nong, Dak Lak, Gia Lai and Kon Tum provinces, black pepper price has soared, approximately 130,000 VND / kg (an increase of nearly 10,000 VND / kg compared to in mid-August), the highest price in the last 2 years.

Pepper is one of the crops for valuable export products, contributing to improving the lives of people in the Central Highlands region. Rising pepper prices are the main reason for farmers to expand their crop areas in most districts, towns and cities in the Central Highlands. If in 2005, the whole region had only more than 10,000 ha of pepper, by 2013 it had increased to about 25,000 ha.
