Mr. Tran Duc Tung, Chief of Office of Vietnam Pepper Association, said that the price of pepper is currently nearly 150,000 VND / kg and this is the highest price ever.

At the beginning of the year, Vietnam Pepper Association made a forecast, in 2011, the output of pepper will fluctuate from 100,000 to 110,000 tons, the quantity of pepper exported will reach over 100,000 tons and the price of pepper will be from 80,000 to 100,000 VND. / kg. After the first quarter of 2011, the price of pepper in the market has continuously increased and by the end of the year the price has risen much more than initially anticipated.

Mr. Tung said, at the beginning of 2011, when the price of pepper in the market was quite high at VND 80,000-90,000 / kg, the Vietnam Pepper Association made a recommendation to the pepper growers not to sell. in large quantities that seek reserves to regulate the market.

Mr. Tung affirmed that Vietnam now ranks first in the world in terms of export pepper output every year, so the pepper industry has the ability to regulate the selling price on the world market.
