The Vietnam Pepper Association (VPA) said: If the export price from July onwards reaches over USD 7,000/ton, it will pull the domestic pepper price to over VND 140,000/kg.
Through a survey of many farmers and businesses, the Vietnam Pepper Association (VPA) said that if the export price from July onwards reaches over 7,000 USD/ton, the domestic pepper price will reach over 140,000 VND/kg. the export volume in 2012 can reach 110,000-115,000 tons, total turnover is 770-780 million USD.
On the contrary, if the above price is not reached, most farmers continue to store their goods, and the selling enterprises must accept losses.
Currently, storing pepper at harvest time and then selling it in moderation, waiting for the price to increase for high efficiency, is quite popular among farmers, collectors and suppliers.
From this fact, VPA has warned pepper importers and exporters to consider when advancing capital for domestic trading and negotiating and signing import-export contracts in the near future, in order to ensure profits and limit the consumption of pepper. risk control.
Currently, the domestic price of black pepper in the key pepper growing provinces in the Central Highlands and the Southeast fluctuates at 123,000-125,000 VND/kg, 18,000-20,000 VND/kg higher than the same period in 2011. Market domestic prices In the past time, the land has been quite tense, trading activities are very quiet and some businesses have to buy pepper from Indonesia for re-export.
In order to ensure sustainable production development and export business with increasing efficiency, VPA has proposed to the Prime Minister and functional sectors a number of solutions. Specifically, it is recommended that banks give farmers a loan for a period of 1 year, with a reasonable interest rate so that farmers can grow pepper to reproduce and have conditions to temporarily store pepper when harvesting.
At the same time, the State Bank lends capital to enterprises trading and exporting pepper at low interest rates or equal to 0% for 3-6 months to buy and store pepper temporarily during the harvest season (first quarter of each year). creating a source of raw materials for deep processing, creating value for goods at an increased price, taking the initiative in signing export contracts.
In addition, the trend that pepper farmers are well-off, have conditions to store pepper, and own the domestic market, have created domestic and world pepper prices closer together, making export business enterprises more attractive. It is very difficult for pepper exporters to make a profit. Therefore, VPA believes that the exemption, reduction and elimination of value-added tax in pepper exports for businesses at this time is very necessary.
