Speaking at the opening of the conference, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Quoc Doanh affirmed that this is the second time Vietnam plays a host role for the annual meeting of the International Pepper Community (IPC). important events to share information as well as promote concerns for the development of pepper industry in the world.

As the host country hosting the conference, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, along with the International Pepper Association and Industry Association of the countries in the IPC, will focus on discussing issues related to improve the quality of pepper production, processing and trade to meet the requirements of the global pepper market.

According to Mr. Do Ha Nam – President of Vietnam Pepper Association (VPA), Vietnam's pepper position has been confirmed by maintaining the world's number one production and export record for 14 consecutive years. If in 2001 pepper exports were only 90 million USD, by 2014 export turnover is expected to reach 1 billion USD.

From a yield of less than 1 ton / ha, it has now averaged 2.5 tons / ha and has become the most efficient of 5 long-term industrial crops in Vietnam (2.6 times higher than coffee). coffee, 6 times tea, 3.8 times cashew, 4 times rubber).

Vietnam's pepper products have been exported to all over the world, in which European market share accounts for 34%, Asia 36%, America 20% and Africa 10%.
