This morning, September 19, the price of pepper in Ba Ria-Vung Tau was firmly at 150,000 VND / kg, setting a new record for Vietnam black pepper price.

The price of pepper in the previous period increased sharply, setting a new record for the world pepper market. In the last two sessions of the week, respectively, increased by Rs 763, Rs 806 and Rs 1,038, ie an increase of USD 167, USD 176 and USD 225 to Rs 35,630 a quintal, Rs 36,205 and a loss of Rs 36,645 per quintal, equivalent to USD 7,752 / tons, USD 7,878 / ton and USD 7,973 / ton for October, November and December delivery.

Although the upward trend of prices in the last months of the year has been confirmed by forecasts of the world shortage of pepper production this year, the strong and continuous increase from the beginning of August until now can confirm. is too fast, beyond imagination not only in the business world, speculators but also in the world of analysts and market forecasts.

According to the statistics of Customs, our country in August exported 16,988 tons of pepper of all kinds, reaching a turnover of 106, 25 million USD. In the first 8 months of the year, 99,787 tons of pepper were exported, reaching a turnover of US $ 560.25 million, up 8.7% in volume and 83.7% in value over the same period last year. .

Vietnam Pepper Association (VPA) said that from the beginning of the year until now, the average export price of white pepper is 7,540 USD / ton and black pepper is 5,235 USD / ton. Compared to the world price level, the export prices of Vietnamese pepper are of low grade because they are mostly raw or just processed.

Because the world is only expecting supply from Vietnam, exporters have seized the high price opportunity to supply goods reasonably. Pepper growers in our country also know through the mass media to hold a price queue, helping to regulate the market.

Recorded ahead in this rally is Chu Se and Gia Lai markets. On August 24, the price of pepper at Chu Se peaked at VND 140,000 / kg while other markets were at VND 130,000 / kg. But just over a week later, the price of buckets of pepper in Loc Ninh, Binh Phuoc soared to 148,000 VND / kg while in Chau Duc, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, the largest pepper bowl of our country, was at 140,000 VND / kg.

Domestic price movements said that besides the strong demand of exporters before the new harvest season, the market price stimulated the market. There was also the phenomenon of pushing the buying price of traders to meet orders of buyers. companies and the competition of Chinese merchants to bring goods to the northern border.

It can be affirmed that this price increase has exhausted the amount of backlog in pepper farmers. Exporting from here to the end of the season depends on the storage capacity of the exporters. There is also no exclusion of a significant number of goods held by speculators of agricultural products.

Customs statistics show that the export volume of August surpassed the prediction of the Agriculture sector by nearly 2,000 tons, not only contributing to the affirmation but also improving Vietnam's No. 1 position in the world pepper export market. for many years to come.
