According to traders, a few days ago the new crop was offered at a higher price of 2,000-3,000 VND/kg and quickly made the old pepper price drop. However, because the new crop has a small, uncertain skull and low density, it cannot be used to process white pepper.

Gardeners in Chau Duc also said that the pepper crop in this year is divided into 3 harvests. The first season of pepper for the first harvest, lasting about two months before and after the Lunar New Year, is an Indian pepper variety.

According to 2011 statistics of the Vietnam Pepper Association (VPA), Chau Duc is a district with 5,160 hectares of pepper, of which 4,573 hectares of pepper have been harvested, the output is 7,459 tons. Compared with many main pepper growing regions of our country, Chau Duc’s pepper yield is just below average.

In Chau Duc, Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Xuan Loc districts, Dong Nai also has craft villages with many white pepper processing facilities, which usually bring out about 2,500-3,000 tons each year, making an important contribution to the country’s economic growth. the enhancement of added value for Vietnam’s pepper industry.

Chau Duc (along with Phu Quoc – Kien Giang and Chu Se – Gia Lai) also has a profession of processing red pepper, but the quantity is still insignificant. If pepper price White pepper is only 1.5 times higher than the price of black pepper, the price of red pepper is usually 3-4 times higher than the price of black pepper.

Loc Ninh and Binh Phuoc districts have only 3,873 hectares of pepper, of which 3,446 hectares of pepper have been harvested, but pepper production reaches 9,892 tons, which is the district with the highest pepper production in our country.

Since the beginning of this week, the world pepper price in the Kochi-India futures market has been mixed with rising and falling sessions, mainly due to the continuous growth of the Rupiah exchange rate and profit-taking activities of speculators.

Closing this afternoon session, pepper futures price dropped again. Futures for delivery in January lost Rs 555, accounting for 1.8 percent, to Rs 30,765 per quintal, equivalent to USD 5,964 per tonne and February delivery lost Rs 460, accounting for 1.47%, to Rs 31,200 per quintal. equivalent to USD 6,048/ton ( USD 1 = Rs 51,5878 ).

While the spot price of pepper increased by Rs 56, accounting for 0.18%, to Rs 31,453 / quintal, equivalent to USD 6,097 / ton, a very slight increase. The spot price of pepper continues to maintain its advantage, helping Indian pepper growers to sell new crops at higher prices.
