Recently, many new-generation trade agreements (FTAs) have been signed, which have shown Vietnam’s strong economic and international trade opening up. This has created many opportunities to develop the country in a new context, and at the same time, many challenges have to be overcome.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in 2020 Vietnam’s raw cashew output is more than 333,000 tons, 10% higher than in 2019. Export turnover reached 11 billion USD, accounting for 8.2% of the export turnover of the entire agricultural sector of Vietnam. Especially in the last months of the year when the demand increases, the big FTAs officially take effect, the export volume also increases, meeting the demand in the world in the context of the complicated Covid-19 epidemic.
FTAs will increase exploitation opportunities and turn it into a new development dynamic for the country and the economy in the near future.
Mr. Tran Van Hiep, My An Company Limited, said that after the two free trade agreements EVFTA and CPTPP officially took effect, the enterprise exported goods exceeding the target set in the previous year. Although the Covid 19 translation still has an impact globally, but businesses still believe that by 2021, the export situation will be better.
“At the end of the first quarter and to the second quarter of 2021, coinciding with the cashew crop in Vietnam, Cambodia as well as Africa, problems related to the purchase and sale of raw cashews as well as the output of cashew nuts will increase very high. At that time, sales will be bustling, because that is the time when foreign companies will increase their purchases from Vietnam, ”Hiep said.
According to economic experts, within the framework of Vietnam’s integration, Vietnam is participating very deeply, especially FTAs will be opportunities to exploit and turn into new development dynamics for the country and the economy. . Besides the opportunities gained from FTAs, occupying new markets is not easy.
Therefore, the requirement for the industries is to meet many higher standards, from quality, design to labor, environmental issues and sustainable development according to the requirements of importers. . Domestic firms have no other way but to enhance their capacity to compete with foreign competitors. At the same time, business thinking must be changed in a new context, competition is the driving force for innovation and development.
Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, Member of the Politburo, Head of the Central Economic Committee, Minister of Industry and Trade, said that free trade agreements and new-generation free trade agreements require the initiative as well as a more active and close companion, between the State sector and the business sector, is not just the efforts of each party. Only then can Vietnam increase access to opportunities from the agreements./.
