Regarding the path of the “coffee shell – gravel – battery”, Senior Colonel Pham Thanh Binh – Chief of the Public Security Staff Department of Dak Nong Province – said that Ms. Loan and her husband sold them to Le Thi Hong Tho (39 years old) and Tran Van. Tuan (42 years old) resides in Dak Song district with the amount of 3 tons of the mixture preliminarily processed at his facility.

The Investigation Police Agency of Dak Nong Provincial Police has seized three tons of the above mixture (not yet mixed with pepper) at Mrs. Dung’s agricultural product warehouse.

Specifically, Loan and her husband mixed coffee waste, gravel and dyed batteries to have a black pepper-like color. After that, Ms. Loan and her husband sold this product to Tho and Tuan and then transferred it to Ms. Dung’s trading facility in Loc Ninh district, Binh Phuoc.
“Here, Ms. Dung took the mixture of coffee pods – gravel – battery solution bought from Ms. Loan’s facility and mixed it with black pepper to bring to the market. The mixing of these battery-stained mixtures in pepper (in the ratio of 0.1-0.3%) is to add weight to make a profit. As for the dyeing of batteries in the mixture of coffee and gravel waste, according to the initial testimony, it is to create a black color like dried pepper,” said Mr. Cuong.
According to Mr. Cuong, so far, the police have seized 9 tons of pepper mixed with coffee pods, gravel and batteries from Ms. Dung’s premises for further investigation.
“Whether the pepper products from Ms. Dung’s facility have been sold to the market, where they are sold, are still being investigated and clarified further. So far, it has only been determined that Ms. Dung mixed the battery dye waste into pepper to increase the weight “- Mr. Cuong said.

The investigating agency has criminally detained 5 people including: Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Loan, Nguyen Xuan Bao (her husband of Loan), Ms. Phan Thi Dung, Le Thi Hong Tho and Tran Van Tuan.
The police agency determined that Ngo Ngoc Son, who worked for Loan and his wife, directly mixed batteries into coffee waste but was not on the list of criminal detention.
