Not only does livestream sell domestically, this method can also reach the Chinese and ASEAN markets to sell coffee and durian directly to consumers.
The above information was said by Mr. Nguyen Minh Tien, Director of the Center for Agricultural Trade Promotion – Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, at the seminar “Promoting online sales through online platforms for the business community.” Young farmers and OCOP actors” took place on the morning of November 15 in Ho Chi Minh City within the framework of the Mekong Connect 2023 Forum.

This is an event organized by Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, High Quality Vietnamese Goods Business Association and VCCI Can Tho.
Mr. Tien said that currently the whole country has 10,800 OCOP products (program “One product per commune”) which are specialties associated with indigenous resources and have scientific and technological applications.
In early 2023, the center coordinated with the Tiktok platform to organize 700 OCOP product livestream sessions, earning 100 billion VND. “For non-agricultural product brands, it is a modest number, but for agricultural products, it is a large number” – Mr. Tien assessed.
Not stopping at the domestic market, the center just had a survey of the Chinese market to deploy cross-border e-commerce.
According to Mr. Tien, previously Vietnamese agricultural products were only sold mainly in border provinces such as Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan with a population of nearly 300 million people, not yet fully exploiting the 1.4 billion Chinese population. .
“We can rent bonded warehouses in China to livestream sales to this country, first of all processed goods such as rice, coffee, bird’s nest, fruit juice… With better logistics, we can sell fresh fruit, especially durian” – Mr. Tien expected.
Talking more with Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper reporter about this issue, Mr. Tien said that the survey was conducted with Tiktok in recent September. Thereby, it is seen that the space in the Chinese market for Vietnamese agricultural products and specialties is still very large. With the coordination of Chinese businesses, OCOP entities have found a mechanism from bonded warehouses to send goods into. From there, it is possible to coordinate with Chinese sellers to open livestream sessions and deliver goods to consumers in this country within 2-3 days.
In addition, in 2024, the center will have a cross-country livestream week selling OCOP products to key markets such as Thailand and countries using Halal products (Malaysia, Indonesia).
