In recent days, pepper prices in the market are at 50-60 thousand VND / kg, this is considered the highest price in the past 3 years. The price increase makes pepper growers in the Central Highlands both happy and regretful.
The price of pepper increased every day, making pepper growers in the Central Highlands regretted that they had sold out
Glad that they have hope in trying to maintain their family pepper field after pepper prices hit the bottom, but growers also deeply regret that many houses have sold out and then the pepper price increases.
A few months ago, when the pepper crop was just harvested, the price was now around 35,000 VND / kg. But because of the lack of money to restore the fields and ensure the family’s life, almost all people have sold out, the amount of stockpiling pepper is no longer worth much.
Most of the people who still have pepper in the house are from wealthy families, but this number is negligible.
Mr. Tran Quoc Thang, living in Cu Kuin district (Dak Lak province), said that his family has planted nearly 2 hectares of pepper, over the past 3 years, he has tried to maintain to expect the price of pepper to rise. Last season, Mr. Thang’s family harvested 6 tons of pepper, but when the harvest was completed, they had to sell them all to get funding for reinvestment.
“The time of harvesting pepper just now fell in February, when pepper prices were at around 35,000 VND / kg, but we were forced to sell them to get money to re-invest and pay wages. The increase in prices is a good signal for pepper growers like us “, Mr. Thang said.
Le Van Vinh, who lives in Cu Ne commune, Krong Buk district (Dak Lak), said, “My family mainly lives on pepper. With current pepper prices, pepper growers will be very easy to breathe. Maintaining this price, people’s lives will surely be more stable than before “- Mr. Vinh shared.
According to the reporter, in Dak Song district, known as the “pepper capital” of Dak Nong province, most of the people here said that the current price of pepper increased sharply but they no longer have pepper to sell. sorry.
According to Mr. Le Van Ha (resident of Nam Binh commune, Dak Song district), this year, his family collected 10 tons of pepper, but sold them all as soon as the harvest was completed, at that time the price of pepper was very low. Now that the price is high, only the purchasing agent can benefit, but Mr. Ha expects the price will continue to be stable so that the next season, pepper growers will benefit.
Many families have just sold all their pepper, the price of pepper has started to rise
Mr. Doan Vinh Tan, Vice Chairman of Ea B’Hok Commune, Cu Kuin District (Dak Lak), said that although pepper prices are currently increasing, we always advise people not to expand their acreage because of growing pepper. the risk is very high.
According to Mr. Dang Van Hoan, Chairman of Cu Su commune, Cu M’nga district (Dak Lak), pepper prices have risen, but people are still very few because they have to re-invest and serve their lives. Even his family can only sell 35,000 / kg because he has to reinvest and repay debt.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dak Nong province, the province currently has about 33,000 hectares of pepper cultivation. In the long term, to ensure supply and demand, the province plans and keeps a stable level of about 27,000 hectares.
