Mr. Dang Hoang Giang – General Secretary of Vietnam Cashew Association said: Quality of imported raw cashew nuts is a top concern of enterprises processing cashew exports, because over the past time, many problems have arisen. Technique such as: moisture, quantity of small seeds, deep seeds … There have been many imported consignments of poor quality, causing great damage to the importing units. Another problem is that the brand of Vietnamese cashew kernel after processing is easily affected if the importers find a problem when tracing the origin of processed materials.
Because of the importance and urgency of ensuring the quality of imported raw cashew nuts, the Vietnam Cashew Association has issued Official Letter No. 135/2019 / CV-HHĐ dated December 31, 2019 to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The hamlet proposes to develop and promulgate in a timely manner the National Regulation on raw cashews so that they can be implemented immediately in the 2020 crop.
According to Mr. Dang Hoang Giang, this will be a legal basis for Vietnamese enterprises to negotiate and perform contracts with foreign partners; Quality assurance of raw materials put into processing.
According to the Vietnam Cashew Association, in 2019, Vietnam Cashew Industry continues to lead the world in cashew exports with an amount of about 450,000 tons, earning over 3 billion USD. However, the amount of raw cashew nuts imported amounted to nearly 1.6 million tons with an import turnover of over 2 billion USD. Quality of imported raw cashew nuts has been an important factor determining the efficiency of production and business, product quality and reputation of businesses as well as Vietnam's cashew industry in the world.
The Vietnam Cashew Association has cooperated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Science and Technology and related branches to develop and issue a Vietnam Standard for raw cashew nuts, TCVN 12380 – 2018. This is The set of Standards has an important meaning in checking, evaluating and classifying quality of imported raw cashew raw materials and handling disputes, contributing to ensuring the production and business efficiency of enterprises and brands of Vietnam Cashew industry.
