The Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture has temporarily stopped exporting white pepper to Vietnam and instead shipped it to India and Europe to ensure good prices for farmers to improve their incomes and support their families.
“Vietnam has always been an export destination. This activity will have to stop, and exports should be directed to India and Europe, ”Indonesian Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman said at the release. pepper white for export at the White Pepper plantation of Air Seruk Belitung village on 4/5.
Sulaiman said the decision to stop or reduce pepper exports to Vietnam was made after the Southeast Asian nation reprocessed Indonesian pepper to re-export to other countries, including Europe and India. In the future, direct processing operations should take place in Indonesia.
“We held talks with India. We are successfully penetrating the Indian market. Before that was America, and then Japan and Europe. This is part of our effort, ”he said.
Therefore, Mr. Sulaiman directed the Indonesian Agricultural Quarantine Authority to support all Indonesian export products to penetrate directly into the country or not transiting in other countries.
“That is our wish. We aim at high quality products along with high productivity. We will then reduce production. We can increase the value added everywhere, so we then export directly to the destination country, ”he commented.
