P2 pepperSpot price of pepper continued to rise yesterday, Thursday 21/11, while spot price of pepper remained limited. There are no sellers. Traders on the main market said there was no pepper to offer.

Markets in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Chhattisgarh are attracted to the heat of the election and therefore the buying activity from the states has slowed, market sources for Business Line know.

For immediate pepper, only 2 tons of farm grade pepper and 3 tons of traders were delivered. On NMCE, December and January contracts increased by Rs 378 and Rs 172 to Rs 52,780 a quintal and Rs 52,700 a quintal (equivalent to $ 8,377 / ton and $ 8,365 / ton). (1 USD = 63,003 Rupees)

Turnover decreased by 3 tonnes to 7 tonnes, while open interest dropped to 4 tonnes.

On the IPSTA, December and January contracts increased by Rs 264 and Rs 400 to Rs 52,534 and Rs 52,628 (USD 8,338 / ton and USD 8,353 / ton).

Spot prices remained unchanged at Rs 50,000 / quintal (US $ 7,936 / ton) for the pintle and Rs 52,000 / quintal (US $ 8,254 / ton) for the selected type, due to limited activities.

The export price of pepper decreased to US $ 8,800 per tonne (c & f) for Europe and 9,100 USD per tonne (c & f) for the US, but Indian pepper remained high in the global market.

Pepper prices of all other origins, except Brazil, have been reported to be tight but much lower than Indian pepper prices.
