Indian black pepper price today: Spot prices are slightly higher, and export prices are stable
Spot pepper prices continue to rise slightly as farmers continue to have slow sales. Trade activities are limited because Indians expect to import more from Vietnam and Sri Lanka, according to market news in Business Line.
Agents and companies continue to look for supplies from the pepper farm, but they have not found the right suppliers due to the disagreement of prices.
Therefore, export companies are expecting supplies from Vietnam and Sri Lanka under contracts signed in March and April. Then the importers have 120 days to add value and re-export for this imported raw pepper lot. There have been allegations, however, that they may have allowed the consignments to enter the domestic market.
In Rajkumari district (Idukki district) pepper was traded at Rs 715 per kg and in Wayanad district, Kerala it was traded at Rs 710/ kg.
Pepper farmers said that the coming supply would be tight because of the drought that is occurring on a large scale in major pepper growing countries that threaten yield and crop production.
On Tuesday, only 23 tonnes of pepper were delivered in the market and traded at 695 to 708 rupees per kilogram.
