In the wrong season, the growers of durian and coffee growers in Dak Lak worried.
On February 26, many garden owners said that from mid-February 2025, most durian gardens in Buon Ho town and districts of Krong Pac, Krong Nang, Ea H’leo (Dak Lak) were the stage of fluctuating flower sprouts (launched crabs).
Similarly, due to the cool weather, after the Lunar New Year, coffee also started to bloom the first batch.

Right when the tree is giving flowers, waiting for fruit beans to meet the left season in the past few days, causing the garden homeowners to lose sleep. At the beginning of the season, there are many acids with mushrooms, bacteria will cause crab eyes to be black, dry, not developed into flowers.
“Many garden owners have to redo other flowers for durian garden to save productivity for the coming harvest season,” said Pham Hung Vuong – the owner of the durian garden, intercropping coffee in Phu Xuan commune (Krong Nang district).
Mr. Tran Quoc Vinh, Chairman of Krong Pak District People’s Committee – Durian capital of Dak Lak – said that with more than 4,000ha (out of nearly 33,000ha of the province), it was very worrying rain, but it has not yet been assessed to all damage.
“The rainy rain this season will affect the growth process, the ability to flower, fruiting of durian. Affecting durian productivity this year, ”Mr. Vinh said.
Not only durian, coffee but many litchi gardens and longan are also seriously affected by the left rain. Farmers said that the time when the tree was flowering, the rain 4-5 days was not large, but it caused 40-50% of the flowers to rotten and shed, signaling an uneasy harvest season.
According to agricultural experts, the season of rain will cause durian trees to be shocked, leading to deciduous phenomenon, affecting the health and growth ability of the tree.
The wet weather also makes the plants absorb more nitrogen, stimulating the growth of young buds in the flowering stage, making the flowering process will not be uneven, weak flowers, poor pollination, leading to low fruit bean ratio, uneven durian fruit, distorted, rough.
Mr. Nguyen Hien Hien, Director of the Plant Protection and Plant Protection Department of Dak Lak province, said that the season of rain at this time has affected the flowering and fruiting of many crops. Farmers need to monitor and take care of their trees well, limit damage.
