According to preliminary statistics of the General Department of Customs, the country's export volume of pepper in the first quarter of 2020 increased by 13.7% compared to the same period in 2019, reaching 80,680 tons, but the value decreased 7 %, reaching 176.29 million USD.

The export volume of pepper in March 2020 was estimated at 40,297 tons, equivalent to US $ 83.05 million, up 57.4% in volume and 45.6% in turnover compared to February 2020; over the same period last year also increased by 14.3% in volume but down 7.2% in turnover.

The price of export pepper in March 2020 decreased by 7.4% compared to February 2020 and by 18.7% compared to the same month in 2019, reaching an average of US $ 2,061.1 / ton. In the first quarter of 2020, the export price also decreased by 18.2% compared to the same period in 2019, reaching 2,185 USD / ton.

Pepper exported to the US – Vietnam's largest consumer market of pepper in the first quarter of this year, the price also decreased by 11.5% compared to the same period in 2019, reaching only US $ 2,540.5 / ton. The amount of pepper exported to the US increased slightly by 0.1%, but the turnover decreased by 11.5%, reaching 13,824 tons, equivalent to 35.12 million USD, accounting for 17.1% of the total export volume of pepper nationwide. and accounts for 19.9% ​​of total turnover.

The price of pepper exported to the EU – the second largest market also fell sharply by 20.1% to 2,696.7 USD / ton. The amount of pepper exported to the EU increased by 33.1%, the turnover increased 6.3% to 8,482 tons, worth US $ 22.82 million, accounting for 10.5% of the total volume and accounting for 12.9% of the total turnover. .

Vietnam's pepper exports to Southeast Asian countries in general accounted for over 10% of the total and total pepper export turnover of the country, reaching 8,107 tons, equivalent to 17.98 million USD, a sharp increase of 90, 3% in volume and 55.8% in turnover over the same period last year.
