In the fruit group code HS 080450, Vietnam has just been allowed to import mangoes into the US market from February 18, 2019.

Accordingly, by the end of July 2019, the amount of mango imported from Vietnam by the US reached 136 tons, accounting for 0.1% of the total import of guava, mango and mangosteen US.

The National Mango Council said that due to limited production, the demand for US mango imports from 2015 to present has continued to increase.

American mangoes are mainly grown in Florida and Hawaii, and small amounts in California and Texas. Currently US mango production reaches about 3,000 tons per year, only 1% of the annual import.

Import and Export Department said that this is an opportunity for Vietnam's fruit industry to exploit the US mango market because of the great market demand.
