The average export price is estimated to reach 558 USD/ton, up 15.3% over the same period in 2022.
Rice exports have been showing many positive signs as prices have increased and the income of rice farmers is increasingly improving. According to information from the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), in the early days of November, Vietnam’s rice export prices continued to increase and reached the highest level compared to the group of major rice exporting countries in the world.

Specifically, regular white rice continues to account for the largest proportion, reaching about 55.5% of total exports (equivalent to about 3.56 million tons); Next is fragrant rice of all kinds, accounting for about 24% of total exports (about 1.5 million tons); Sticky rice category ranks third, accounting for about 8.5% of total export volume (volume reaching about 545 thousand tons); Broken rice accounts for 7.6% of total exports (volume is about 487 thousand tons).

Thanks to that, on September 2, 2022, Vietnam Rice of Loc Troi Group appeared in European supermarkets with a retail price of 4,000 Euro/ton. This is the most expensive price on the market and up to now, Loc Troi still maintains this price.
Ms. Tran Thanh Binh, Head of the Import-Export Department, Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) said that in addition to fruit, the rice industry is a “bright spot” that helps support Vietnam’s agricultural, forestry and fishery exports. South this year.
These two products have helped the agricultural industry reach the target of 55 billion USD in export turnover in 2023. This is one of the encouraging results.
To export rice sustainably
The current unusual upward trend in rice prices is considered a “double-edged sword” for export businesses, because it will easily lead to risks when businesses sign orders with high rice prices and export them at low prices. Not to mention, many businesses are currently having difficulty purchasing rice.
In that context, Mr. Nguyen Nhu Cuong, Director of the Department of Crop Production (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) emphasized that if businesses link up with rice farmers, they will be proactive in supply under current conditions. Very rapid and unusual changes in the rice market as in recent times.
From Loc Troi’s experience in operating a sustainable rice production chain, Mr. Nguyen Duy Thuan said that first, it is necessary to expand growing areas and increase output for export; Continue to organize large production starting from orders; Build raw material areas to ensure adequate supply, according to seasonal progress, of seeds, medicines, fertilizers, agricultural services and output consumption for farmers.
Second, diversify rice types suitable for international markets, meeting rice export standards to high-end markets such as the EU, US, Canada, Australia; Deploy and expand the scale of rice farming models according to international sustainability standards SRP100, organic rice farming models… helping to increase the value of Vietnamese rice grains, raise environmental awareness and increase profits for farmers.
In addition, it is necessary to develop high-quality rice with strict requirements on pesticide residues and well-operate quality management systems (SMETA, BRCGS, FSMA, HACCP…). Finally, build a rice brand in the world market.
Regarding the authorities, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is making efforts to implement trade promotion programs to boost the export of rice products.
For example, recently, the National Trade Promotion Program on Vietnamese Rice Trade Delegation was implemented in Beijing, China, at the same time to promote the export of Vietnamese rice to Vietnam. China is stable and sustainable, the trade delegation of Vietnamese rice products in the Chinese market from October 29 to 31.
During their time in Beijing, the delegation proposed and received support from state management agencies, associations and agricultural and food enterprises, especially Chinese rice enterprises, on strengthening Support trade, establish information exchange channels, coordinate promptly in resolving problems between businesses of the two countries, and continue to promote Vietnam’s rice export activities to China in the coming time.
Besides, consider signing memorandums of understanding on promoting exports and trade promotion between the two countries. Supporting Vietnamese rice products to penetrate deeply into China’s traditional retail market and e-commerce channels in the coming time, contributing to maintaining market share and increasing Vietnamese rice export turnover to China.
