Pepper hits the season, high prices help many farmers change their lives but also pose challenges in terms of planning.

According to the forecast of Mr. Do Ha Nam, Chairman of the Vietnam Pepper Association, this year the income from pepper exports will surpass 600 million USD, an increase of more than 180 million USD compared to 2010.

In addition, according to Mr. Nam, due to the low price of pepper, people in the Central Highlands provinces tend to cut down some economically inefficient crops, even destroy forests to get land for pepper cultivation in the hope of getting rich from trees. pepper. Therefore, the planning of pepper planting area will be disrupted and more seriously, deforestation for farming will be spread, negatively affecting the ecological environment.
