According to a report of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, pepper exports in the first 10 months of this year were 120,000 tons with a turnover of $ 702 million, up 15% in volume but double the turnover compared to the same period last year. last year.

Turnover, especially Egypt, Spain and Singapore markets increased by 70-120% in volume and more than 200% in value over the same period in 2010.
The domestic pepper price in the past 10 months has continuously increased at a high level, sometimes surpassing 150,000 VND/kg of black pepper with buckets, the highest price ever recorded in the Vietnamese pepper market. The price of black pepper from 148,000 -150,000 VND/kg on October 3 increased to a record level of 153-154,000 VND/kg on October 7, more than double the average pepper price of the whole last year of only 60-70,000. VND/kg. Currently, the price of black pepper has returned to 146,000 – 148,000 VND/kg.
The price of white pepper is more stable because the demand for white pepper is not much, the price is higher than that of black pepper, currently reaching 190,000 – 195,000 VND/kg. Similarly, the export price of pepper increased sharply in October, currently the price of black pepper 500g/l FOB reached $7,500-7,600/ton, black pepper 550g/l FOB $8,000-8,100/ton, white pepper for export reached 10,100-10,200 USD/ton, the highest export price ever seen in the history of the pepper market.
According to the forecast of the Center for Informatics and Statistics, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the country’s export volume of pepper this year is estimated at nearly 139,000 tons with a value of more than $864 million.

In India, the purchasing price of pepper tends to increase again after falling at the beginning of the month, the domestic price of black pepper is at $6,911/ton; export price of pepper reached $7,124/ton, up $185/ton (equivalent to 2.7% increase) compared to the beginning of October.
In the Indonesian market, the purchase price of domestic black pepper reached $7,504/ton, the export price of black pepper reached $7,900/ton, up 135% and 97.5% respectively compared to the same period in 2010. , the export price of white pepper was stable in the month reaching 10,600 USD/ton.
According to pepper traders, low reserves, low global output and high export demand will be the factors that keep world pepper prices rising in the medium and long term.
