In 2019, the EU accounts for 11.75% of Vietnam’s total agricultural, forestry and fishery export market share. The effective EVFTA will open a big door for many Vietnamese exports; In particular, agriculture, forestry and fisheries have many advantages when being cut quickly for most tax lines.

“EVFTA is a new generation agreement with high level of commitment, great influence, promising to bring many new opportunities but also great challenges for the economy in general and the agricultural sector. rural areas in particular, ”emphasized VFAEA Chairman.

However, the EVFTA Agreement does not mean that all Vietnamese goods can be exported to the EU and enjoy tax incentives.

Therefore, businesses need to proactively improve production capacity, build brands for Vietnam’s agricultural products to meet the increasing demands of export markets.

Mr. Tran The Nhu Hiep, representative of NHONHO Technology Co., Ltd, said that most of Vietnam’s agricultural enterprises are small and medium-sized, limited financial resources, access to capital and investment. Due to limited investment in production technology, the improvement of product value has not been effective.

Besides, although the EU is a familiar export market for many Vietnamese goods, the level of exploitation of this market is not uniform.

Of the 27 EU members, Germany, France, Great Britain, the Netherlands and Italy alone accounted for about 68% of total trade value with EU countries, while exports to the remaining markets were very high. short.

“In order to improve market share and export value, in addition to strengthening relations with traditional markets, Vietnamese businesses need to actively expand exports to the rest of the EU market because of potential and room. The consumption of agricultural products in these countries is still very large ”, Mr. Tran The Nhu Hiep emphasized.

Experts also analyzed that despite the favorable tariff, but to enter the EU, goods, especially agriculture, forestry and fisheries still face many technical barriers.

In recent years, EU countries have increasingly inspected, controlled the quality and origin of export products, especially agricultural products from Asian countries.

Therefore, before approaching the market, businesses must meet the standards for Vietnamese products to limit the risk of investigation or application of trade remedies.
